Clean Flow Heater - Flange Style
BACKGROUND
The BCE application involved heating hydrocarbon elastomer material to transform it into a renewable resource. The flow rate and watt density of the rod-style heaters needed to be optimized to reduce carbonization on the heat source and ensure material compatibility with the process. The operating temperature was ~415°F (213°C) at ambient pressure.

OUTCOME
Testing the heater in-house at BCE in an air medium environment allowed the outlet temperature to be ramped up to ~300°C. At the customer site, the heater performed to expectations, allowing the heavy hydrocarbons to flow through the body effectively.
